Description

Rose Cottage and the attached outbuilding is a house dating from the 18th century, with alterations from the 19th century. It is constructed of squared, coursed ironstone with quoins and features a tile roof with brick end stacks. The building has two storeys and a three-window range, following a two-unit plan.

At the center, there is a 19th-century plank door with quoined surrounds and a lintel. Flanking the door are two 19th-century stone mullioned windows: a three-light window to the left and a four-light window to the right, both with hood moulds and label stops. On the first floor, there are two three-light mullioned windows to the left and right, with a two-light mullioned window in the center, all featuring hood moulds and label stops. The rear openings have 18th-century lintels with keyblocks.

To the right, there is a 19th-century one-unit, two-storey range with a plank door and three-light leaded casements. The attached outbuilding on the right has a 19th-century plank door and a thatched and corrugated iron roof with chamfered purlins. Inside, the cottage has stone flagged floors, a large open fireplace with a 19th-century surround, and a boxed spine beam. The building is included for its group value.
