Description
Church Cottage is a cottage that likely dates from the 17th century and was refaced with brick at the front in the early 19th century. It has a timber frame and rendered stone at the rear and on the gable ends. The roof is thatched, featuring a rendered brick ridge and end stacks. The building has an L-shaped plan, with a gable at the rear left. It is two stories high and has a two-window range of early 19th-century two- and three-light casements, with segmental-arched heads on the ground floor. To the left, there is a 20th-century plank door set within a 20th-century gabled timber porch. The sable end has been lowered at the rear, and there are additional 19th-century casements. Inside, there are chamfered spine beams with stepped stops and two large open fireplaces with chamfered bressumers, one of which was refaced in the 19th century. The cottage is included for its group value.
