Description
Shipston House is a building located on Darling Scott Road in Shipston on Stour, dating from around 1837. Originally serving as a Poor Law Institution, it is constructed of brick in Flemish bond with a plinth and features a hipped slate roof. The building has two storeys and a nine-window range, with the central three-window section projecting slightly under a pediment.
At the center, there is a large four-panelled door with an overlight and a flat hood supported by consoles. The ground floor has eight openings, while the first floor has nine openings, all featuring 12-pane sash windows. The sashes on the ground floor are adorned with painted brick flat arches. Flanking the main building are two contemporary one-storey sections, each with a single window that also contains a 12-pane sash. Additional 19th and 20th-century extensions have been made, but these are not considered to have special architectural interest.
