Description

Two cottages, formerly a house, were built in 1729. They are located on Telegraph Street in Shipston on Stour. The cottages are constructed of limestone ashlar, with coped gables and a plain tile roof. A brick ridge stack and an end stack with an ashlar base are also present. The building is two storeys high with an attic, and features a three-window front. The layout consists of three units. A 19th-century four-panelled door, with a concrete lintel, is located centrally to the left. A 20th-century four-panelled door with a gabled hood is centrally to the right. A 19th-century three-light casement window sits to the left of the ground floor, within a chamfered opening. First-floor windows include a 19th-century two-light casement to the left, and a similar window centrally to the left. The ground floor and first floor openings to the right of No. 36 are 20th-century three-light casements. There are two gabled dormers in the roof. A moulded datestone, inscribed in bas-relief with 'P/IA/1729', is centrally positioned on the first floor. The interior has not been inspected.
