Description
Mount Ash is a house, formerly a farmhouse, dating from the early to mid 17th century and restored in the 19th century. It is built of squared, coursed ironstone with coped gables and features a stone slate roof with stone end stacks, each having two renewed flues linked by a moulded cornice. The building has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys plus an attic, with a three-window range.
At the center, there is a 20th-century plank door with a dressed stone surround. To the immediate left, a leaded light window is topped with a hood mould that continues over the door and features label stops. Flanking this are two 4-light mullioned windows. On the first floor, there are three windows: a 3-light mullioned window on either side and a 2-light mullioned window in between. Additionally, there are three 2-light mullioned windows in three gabled dormers. All windows have leaded lights and stone mullions, with those on the ground and first floors being renewed in the 19th century, complete with hood moulds and label stops.
Extending forward from the right is a two-storey range with a stone slate roof, coped gable, and a renewed ashlar stack, featuring leaded casements. At the rear, there is a two-storey range from the 18th century. Inside, the hall has a stone flagged floor and an open fireplace, along with original trusses and purlins in the roof.
