Description

This is a house dating from 1837 to 1838, located on New Street in Stratford-upon-Avon. It’s part of the early 19th century development of the southern part of the town. The building is constructed of brick with buff brick headers and stucco dressings, topped with a slate roof. It has a brick stack at the rear ridge and an end stack. The design is Georgian, with a symmetrical facade of two windows. The eaves are plain. The entrance is distinguished by a moulded doorcase topped with paterae and a cornice, above which is an overlight with margin lights, all above a six-panel door. The ground floor has canted bay windows with a frieze and cornice over 4:16:4-pane horned sashes. The first-floor windows have sills and rusticated wedge lintels over 16-pane sashes. The left side of the first floor has been rebuilt. Information about this building is held within the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust Record Office.
