Description
A pair of houses built in 1861 by Thomas Hewins, located on Ryland Street in Stratford-upon-Avon, and incorporating No.13 New Street. The houses are constructed of brick with buff brick headers and stucco dressings, featuring a slate roof with brick end stacks and a cross-axial stack. Designed in a Georgian style, they comprise two storeys and a three-window front. A top brick cornice runs along the top of the facade. The left-hand end has an elliptical-headed entry with a plank door, while the entrance to the right has a moulded doorcase with a cornice and a four-panel door. The windows are 12-pane sashes, with sills and rusticated wedge lintels containing decorative keys. The return to New Street displays brick eaves. A central entrance has a frieze and consoled cornice, with stained glass above a one-fielded- and one-flush-panel door. Blind windows are present on the ground and first floors of the right return, but the central first-floor window features a two-light small-paned casement. The attic has two segmental-headed windows also fitted with small-paned casements. The property is part of the early 19th century development of the south side of Stratford.
