Description

A pair of houses located on Ryland Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, dating from circa 1851. The houses are constructed of brick with stucco dressings, and have a fishscale tile roof with brick end stacks. They are built in the Tudor style.

The two-storey building presents a symmetrical two-window facade. A plat band runs along the top of the ground floor, and pilasters flank the first-floor windows. A modillioned brick cornice tops the building. The Tudor-headed entrances feature hood moulds above a 20th-century door and a four-panel door. The windows have offset sills, and the lintels have label moulds above the two-light small-paned casements with margin lights.

This represents an unusual example of the Tudor style within an area primarily characterised by Georgian-style houses. The houses are part of the early 19th-century development of the south part of Stratford.
