Description

Brook Cottage is a house that likely dates back to the 17th century, with an addition on the right side from the early 18th century and further alterations, including outshuts to the rear and modifications in the mid-20th century. The exterior features painted brick with some fragments of timber-framing on the right side and gabled roofs covered with plain tiles.

The building consists of two sections, each with a single storey plus an attic, with the right section being taller. It has a four-window range arranged in a 2:2 pattern. There is a plank door located to the right of the center, set within a moulded wood door frame and accompanied by a 20th-century porch. The windows throughout are from the 20th century, with the ground floor featuring two casements and two bay windows, while the attic has four gabled half-dormers with casements. A modillion cornice is present, and timber framing is exposed on the right side and the left gable end. There are rear stacks and a stack at the right end of the left range.

Inside, at the right end of the left range, there is an inglenook fireplace with a bressumer. The ceilings have chamfered beams, and remnants of wall plates and fragments of timbering are exposed on both the ground and first floors.
