Description

Valhalla Cottage is a house dating primarily from the 17th century, with 20th-century alterations and additions. It is timber-framed with brick and plastered infill, and some coursed rubble to the ends, and has a steeply pitched tile roof with brick end stacks at the front and rear of the ridge. The original plan comprised two units, with single-storey, flat-roofed outshuts added to each end.

The exterior is single-storey with an attic. A window is visible in the former entrance, alongside a window with a casement. A later porch was added to the right end, and the attic features a casement in a dormer which slopes from the ridge. The right return side has an attic window with a 2-light, small-paned casement over a 20th-century addition. The rear elevation displays good square framing and a window with a 2-light, small-paned casement, with a single light to the right.

Inside, the former exterior entrance now opens into a 20th-century addition. A stone fireplace with a bressumer is adjacent to the former entrance, and there are chamfered beams throughout.
