Description

Vale House is a house dating from the 17th century, with a 19th and 20th-century wing and early 20th-century alterations. The main structure features roughcast timber framing, while the wing is built of brick. It has an old tile roof and a central stack made of stone and brick, which includes an old brick dog-tooth cornice and an upper section. The layout follows a two-unit baffle entry plan, with the wing positioned at right angles on the left side. The building stands two storeys tall and has a three-window range.

A large two-storey jettied porch, believed to have originated from a demolished house in the village, features a moulded Tudor arch and sides adorned with screens of turned balusters. The interior includes benches and a 20th-century panelled door. Throughout the house, there are 20th-century leaded moulded wood mullioned windows, mostly consisting of three lights. A 20th-century canted bay is situated between the porch and the wing, with tile hanging above. There is a single-light window and a small two-light window to the right of the porch, both of which have a transom. The irregular wing features 20th-century leaded casements, and the rear of the house is also irregular.

Inside, some framing is exposed, and there is an open fireplace with a moulded bressumer. A room to the right contains a 18th-century round-arched corner cupboard with a keyblock, which may have been relocated from another site.
