Description
Whitehouse Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the mid to late 19th century. It is constructed of sandstone rubble, with the front featuring scored render. The roof is tiled, and there are 19th-century brick stacks at the left end and a 20th-century stack at the right end. The building has an L-plan layout with a wine cellar on the left and is two storeys high, comprising a four-window range. The main range has a half-glazed, four-panelled door located between the first and second bays. The ground floor includes four-pane sash windows in the third and fourth bays. Both the right return side of the wing and the main range feature three-light casements with horizontal glazing bars, and the right return side has two large buttresses. Inside, there are heavy ceiling beams, and the room to the left contains a stepped stop-chamfered beam. There are two large open fireplaces that are back-to-back, exposed posts, some old plank doors, and winder stairs.
