Description
Oxford Canal Bridge Number 95 is a turn-over bridge built around 1830. It is constructed of brick and features moulded blue brick coping along the parapet and a blue brick string course at the base of the parapet. An iron plaque over the arch displays the number '95'. The flanking walls curve down on either side and extend forward beside the canal. A second wall runs parallel to these walls, bordering the towpath, which is carried across the bridge to the opposite side. This section of the Oxford Canal, where the bridge is located, was constructed between 1829 and 1834 as part of a project to shorten and straighten the canal, which previously connected to the Grand Union Canal at Braunston Wharf.
