Description

Ivy Cottage Farmhouse is a semi-detached house that was formerly several cottages. The right range dates from the 17th century, while the left range is from the 18th to early 19th century, with a mid-19th century addition. The right range features large timber framing with brick infill, some of which is from the late 20th century. The other ranges are constructed of Flemish bond brick. The roofs are covered with old plain tiles, and the left range has a lower, more shallowly-pitched roof. There are brick ridge and right end stacks.

The house has a 4-unit plan and stands two storeys high with a four-window range. The entrance features a late 20th-century fielded six-panelled door with a brick segmental arch between the second and third bays. The second bay has a late 20th-century bow window, while the third and fourth bays have late 20th-century three-light casements, with older two-light casements above, all featuring glazing bars. The first floor has 20th-century two- and three-light casements.

At the rear, some exposed framing is visible. Inside, a room in the 18th/19th century range has a stepped-stop-chamfered ceiling beam, and there is an original built-in corner cupboard with panelled doors, along with an altered open fireplace. The 17th-century range showcases exposed framing, and the ground floor has a chamfered beam and run-out chamfered joists. The building is included for its group value.
