Description
New House Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The exterior features pebbledash over timber-framing and 19th-century brick. The roof is covered with old plain tiles, and the main range includes a large central stack made of old brick, while the cross-wing has a 19th-century brick stack located in the left corner. The building has a T-plan layout, with the higher cross-wing on the left side.
It stands two storeys tall and has a four-window range. The main range has 20th-century half-glazed doors to the left and centre, along with a boarded door to the right. The first bay and the cross-wing feature 20th-century three-light casements, and there is a half-dormer on the main range. On the ground floor, the main range has a 20th-century two-light casement, while the first floor has two-light casements with horizontal glazing bars and cross glazing. The right return side of the building is constructed of brick.
Inside, the farmhouse contains back-to-back open fireplaces. The first floor reveals some exposed framing, along with massive trusses and wind braces.
