Description
66 and 67 Church Street is a house that has been converted into two shops. It dates from the early to mid 18th century, with a core that is from the 17th century. The building is constructed of painted brick and has a tiled roof. It features a two-unit plan and stands two storeys high with an attic, displaying a five-window range. The façade has a central forward break and end pilaster strips, along with a dentilled brick frieze above the ground floor and a top dentilled brick frieze with a coved cornice.
The ground floor has mid-20th century shop fronts that include a marble plinth and a black glass fascia, with recessed entrances featuring glazed doors adorned with decorative glazing bars. On the first floor, there are segmental-headed windows with rubbed brick arches above 8-pane horned sashes, with the central window being blind. The attic contains two gabled dormers. The rear of the building shows some 17th-century brickwork along with later rebuilding, including a rebuilt single-storey gabled wing. Inside, there are some chamfered beams.
