Description
Dosthill Sunday School and Parish Room is a chapel that has been repurposed as a parish room. It dates back to the 12th century, with alterations from the 17th and 18th centuries, and later modifications. The building is constructed from dressed squared stone with ashlar dressings and some brick, topped with a tiled roof. It has a rectangular shape, and the chancel has been removed.
The east end, which may have been reconstructed, features a blocked round former chancel arch from the 12th century, along with a 17th-century four-light chamfered-mullioned window. The gable is made of brick and includes a blue brick lozenge above a segmental-headed window with a 20th-century casement. The north elevation displays a 12th-century round-headed entrance with a renewed moulded archivolt and hood, as well as a small round-headed light to the east and an exposed wall plate. The south elevation is similar to the north. The west end has a round-headed light, with a similar light positioned above it.
Inside, the building features 17th-century chamfered tie beams and principals, along with wind braces, and the upper part is ceiled. The windows have deep splays.
