Description
15 Aldergate is a house, now divided into flats, dating from around 1770 with 20th-century alterations. It is built of brick with a tiled roof and brick end stacks, designed in an L-plan and in the Georgian style. The building has three storeys and a symmetrical three-window range. At the top, there is a modillioned wooden cornice. The entrance features a doorcase with pilasters, a frieze, and a pediment, along with a narrow overlight above a 20th-century fielded-panel door. The windows have sills, with those on the ground and first floors featuring rusticated wedge lintels above 12-pane top-hung casements, although the ground floor right window has lost its lintel and there has been rebuilding to the left. The second floor has 6-pane top-hung casements. At the rear, there is a gabled wing with two elliptical-headed carriage arches and a 20th-century canted oriel. The interior has not been inspected.
