BIDDULPH C.P. HOLLY LANE SJ 85 NE 7/31 Whitehouse Cottage - - II

Cottage. Late C15, altered mid-C19 and C20. Timber frame on sandstone plinth; wattle and daub and painted brick infill; Norfolk reed roof. Single storey and attic. 3-framed-bay front of 4 windows; C20 casement windows, 2 dormers with thatch swept over, to first floor left and centre bays; square-panel framing; higher wall plate to right-hand bay, plinth stepped down to left of centre bay (formerly entrance). Interior: 3 cruck truss frames, slightly curved blades, apices not visible, running from centre bay to left end; large firehood and ovolo-moulded spine beam to centre bay; steps down to left bay with plain chamfered beam ceiling; straight windbraces to roof construction. Developed from open hall and downhouse with C17 (originally ceiled) bay added to right, C20 additions to sides and rear.
