Description
The Coachman's House to Fairhaven, built around 1850 and possibly incorporating an earlier structure, was designed by R.C. Hussey. It features coursed stone construction and a blue machine tile roof, with verge parapets supported by corbelled kneelers and twin stone stacks at each end. The single-storey front has two block mullioned casement windows on either side of a central, projecting gablet that has a finial and a blind circular opening on the first floor above a Tudor-arched boarded door. To the left, there is a lower wing of slightly shorter length, which includes a boarded door and a low-set square opening to the right. Additionally, there is a 2-meter high stable yard wall that runs in two sections to the north and east, with an entrance on the north side. The coach-house is located to the east, and this building is part of a group constructed for the Batemans.
