BRADNOP C.P. Cross approximately 1,000m east of Stile House Farmhouse

II

Cross. Early C17. Gritstone. Octagonal base to two-tiered circular plinth, square tapered shaft approximately 3m high and chamfered to within 100mm of base. Dowelled head, cross missing. The remote setting has led to two possible explanations: either the monument was moved to the site, or was intended as a plague cross where transactions could take place between plague affected and non-affected communities.
