Description

The Old Coffee Tavern and the shop attached to the north is a house and shop built in the mid to late 18th century, with an addition from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of red brick that is painted red on an ashlar plinth painted white, and it has a plain tile roof with brick integral end stacks. The building is aligned north-south and faces west, with the house on the right and the shop on the left.

The house features three storeys and a gable-lit attic above a cellar, with a cavetto and ovolo-moulded eaves band. It has three bays, with large windows on the left and right that have wedge lintels grooved as voussoirs and triple keystones. The ground floor right has casement windows, while the second floor has reduced-width casements. The ground floor left and first floor have twin sash windows with horns; the upper lights have glazing bars and the lower ones are plate glass. There is a round-headed window in the centre of the first floor with a bracketed sill, pilastered jambs, and a raised keystone. The second floor centre has a blind keyed oval oculus with a moulded surround. The central entrance is a six-panelled door with a bracketed pediment, accessed by a flight of stone steps with a wrought iron balustrade.

The shop is three storeys high and consists of one bay, featuring glazing bar sashes with horns and wedge lintels. The ground floor has a shop window to the left and a door to the right.
