Description

This is a house, dated 1771, with later alterations. It is constructed of red brick with an ashlar plinth and quoins of unequal length, and has a plain tile roof with coped verges and brick end stacks. The house is aligned north-east/south-west, facing south-east. It has two storeys and two windows. The windows are glazing bar casements with wedge lintels. A large 20th-century window is located on the ground floor to the left, and has a cornice hood. A half-glazed door is situated to the left of centre, replacing a blocked doorway immediately to its right; the lintel above the blocked doorway is inscribed "G I E No. 1 High Street". The property occupies a prominent corner position at the junction with New Road, and is included on the list for its group value.
