Description
The former smithy of Trentham Park Estate is an early 19th-century building, roughly triangular in shape. It is enclosed at the front and on one sharply angled side by brick walls that rest on a stone base, featuring rusticated stone piers. The entrance, located on the right-hand side, has a horse-shoe shaped opening framed by a stone surround with bands of heavy rustication. There are large stone buttresses on either side of the entrance, and a heavy cornice is topped with a raised stone bowl that holds a wrought metal flambeau. On the left-hand side, there is a pair of substantial rusticated stone gate pillars.
