Description

Cash Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from around 1840. It is built of red brick, stuccoed and lined out to imitate ashlar on the two main elevations. The building features fretted bargeboards on the oversailing verges, clustered and individually set octagonal stone chimneys, and a roof covered with geometric tiles. It is designed in the Regency Gothic style and has an 'L' plan layout, with a brick service range as a rear wing.

The entrance front has two storeys, with an advanced gable on the left and a gabled porch at the center. There are two light ground floor windows flanking the entrance, featuring semi-circular heads with margin glazing set within chamfered surrounds beneath hood moulds. The first floor openings are mostly blind, except for a narrow light above the porch. The porch has a chamfered arched entrance, a shield within the gable apex, and lancet windows beneath hood moulds on the side walls.

On the garden elevation to the right, there is an advanced gable on the left and a single bay on the right, both featuring a wide canted bay window with a shallow parapet. The first floor has two-light windows, with the one on the left having a hood mould.

Inside, the porch door has tall arch-headed glazed panels, and the hallway features a ribbed vault. There is a bobbin baluster staircase with a moulded newel finial and panelled doors within moulded architraves, some of which have traceried heads on the panels. The principal ground floor rooms include ceiling cornice plasterwork and panelled shutters, with one room retaining a contemporary Gothic surround around the hearth.
