Description

The building comprises a school and attached school house, constructed between 1856 and 1859 by G.E. Street. It is built of random coursed stonework with red tile roofs, featuring decorated ridge tiles and stone verge parapets to the south. The school house has hipped dormers and a porch, while stone side stacks are present throughout. The design is Gothic, with an asymmetrical plan arranged across four ranges.

The single-storey school is lower than the two-storey school house but shares a similar ridge height. The school’s front features double gables, each containing a four-light pointed window with Geometric tracery, and elsewhere there are three-light trefoil-headed windows. The school house has a roughly four-window front, with all glazing replaced by 20th-century casements. A two-storey porch provides access and includes a narrow light to the first floor and a front door, both secured with strap hinges.
