Description
The churchyard wall and two sets of gate piers and gates for the Church of St. Mary were built between 1856 and 1859, although they likely sit on older foundations. The wall is constructed from stone, with random coursing on all sides except for the last section and the northeast, which features coursed stone. It has a steeply pitched coping with a roll-moulded ridge. The gates on the northeast are designed in the style of G. E. Street, featuring gabled stone pillars, a wrought iron overthrow, and a lamp, with 20th-century gates that match this style. The gate leading to the school and School Lane has rusticated pillars topped with pyramidal capping and cast iron gates adorned with circular, anthemion, heart, and key motifs.
