Description
The Old Barn is a barn that has been converted into a house. It dates from the late 16th century and features extensive re-facing from the late 17th century, along with 20th-century additions. The structure is timber framed on a brick plinth and has a red tile roof with a 20th-century stack at the rear. The building has a three-bay cruck frame plan and is one storey high. It includes three 20th-century casement windows and a 20th-century door located to the right of the centre. The timber frame consists of loosely square panels with diagonal braces under the tie at the northwest gable end, and the southeast side has exposed cruck framing. There is a re-used door head incorporated into the framing on the north side, and a 20th-century wing has been added to the rear. Inside, there are two exposed crucks with straight blades and lapped collars.
