Description

Brockton Grange Farmhouse is an early 18th-century farmhouse with alterations from the 19th century. It is constructed of red brick, with a 20th-century cedar shingled roof. The building has a square plan with a roof arranged in a 'U' shape, creating a valley at the rear. A central passage runs through the house. The two-storey farmhouse has attics and originally had three windows facing the front. A central entrance is flanked by raised brick bands marking the plinth and window heads. These bands extend upwards as raised brick and pilaster strips to a moulded eaves cornice, which breaks forward over the pilasters. The windows are mostly 19th-century sashes with glazing bars, stone sills, and gauged brick heads on the first floor. Ground-floor windows are 19th-century tripartite sashes with segmental heads. A six-panel front door has a rectangular fanlight, and a 20th-century timber porch has been added.

Inside, a steep staircase with winders is positioned against the centre of the through passage, featuring a curved handrail and a volute scroll to the curtail step. The attic storey has doors with 17th-century pattern moulded panels.
