Description

This is a 19th-century milepost located 20 meters southwest of All Saints Church on Nantwich Road in Balterley. It is made of painted cast iron and has a triangular shape with a chamfered top and a round-headed plate. The milepost is inscribed with the following distances: "Township of Balterley. AUDLEY 2 1/2 miles. CHESTERTON 5 miles. GORSTY HILL 1 mile. BASFORD 2 3/4 miles. NANTWICH 7 1/2 miles."
