Description
The Scales Public House is a public house dating from the early to mid 18th century. It is constructed of stucco with a tiled roof and brick stacks. The building has two storeys and features a five-window range. There are platt bands over both floors and a top coped parapet. The entrance is located to the right of the center and includes a doorcase with pilasters and a bracketed cornice, along with a stained-glass overlight above the panelled door. To the left end, there is a carriage entrance with a plank door.
On the ground floor, two windows have consoled cornices; the window at the right end has a bracketed cornice and may have originally been an entrance, while one window has a plain opening. All ground floor windows are fitted with etched plate glass. The first floor features a window at the left end with a 4:12:4-pane tripartite sash, while the other windows have cross-casements with iron opening casements. The building includes an end stack and a cross-axial stack, along with rear gabled wings.
