Description
No. 2 Schofield Lane is a cottage dating from the 17th century, with some alterations made in the 19th century. It features a timber frame with brick infill and areas of brick rebuilding, topped by a plain tile roof and brick stacks at the ends. The building is oriented north-south and faces west. It has two storeys and an irregular arrangement of windows, with casements located on the ground floor to the left and in the centre of the first floor. There is a glazed lean-to porch in front of a boarded door and a casement window. The first floor to the left shows part of a tension brace and other remnants of the original framing. Attached to the right side of No. 2 is a single-storey brick extension from the 17th century, which has one casement window and a stack made of engineering bricks. Inside, there is an exposed king-post roof truss on the right gable, featuring one pair of purlins and a ridge piece. No. 2 Schofield Lane is connected to No. 1 Schofield Lane and is included for its group value.
