Description

The Church of Holy Trinity is a parish church built between 1880 and 1881 on a medieval site, designed by Charles Lynam. It is constructed of red brick in English bond with ashlar dressings and features a plain tile roof with coped verges. The church is designed in an early 13th-century lancet style and consists of a three-bay nave, a two-bay chancel, and a north-east vestry tower.

The nave has a coped plinth and pilaster buttresses, with lancet windows that include a sill band. There is a re-sited late 12th or early 13th-century north door, which has a 19th-century gable above it. The north-east tower, located at the junction of the nave and chancel, has three stages and a pyramidal roof supported by a louvred timber sub-structure and angle buttresses. The stages are distinguished by ashlar bands. The first stage serves as the vestry and features a pointed north door and a round-headed loop to the east, possibly from the 11th century. The second stage includes lancet windows on the north, east, and west sides, while the third stage has paired lancets to the east and a clock on the north side.

Inside, the church has a wide pointed and roll-moulded chancel arch, with the inner roll-moulded order springing from corbels. All windows have segmental pointed rere-arches, and both the nave and chancel feature scissor-braced common rafter roof trusses. There is a gallery in the north-west tower above the vestry, which has a splat baluster rail. Notable fittings include a 19th-century wooden pulpit with linen-fold panels and a good stained glass east window.
