11/98 Gates, gate piers and - wall at Hanch Hall

GV II

Gates, gate piers and wall. Mid-C19. The wall encloses the north side of the grounds of Hanch Hall (q.v.); the main gates are at the west end. Rough faced ashlar wall with dentilled cornice. Wooden gates with cusped openwork decoration flanked by a pair of red brick piers with rusticated ashlar quoins and vase finials. To the left (east) is a second pair of gates flanked by square piers with acorn finials. At the south end of the wall is another gateway flanked by square piers with ball finials. Included for group value.
