Description

This lamp post, located on the north side of the west front of Lichfield Cathedral, dates from around 1880. It is made of cast and wrought iron and features a moulded plinth supporting a fluted post with a twisted top section. The post is adorned with a cluster of four shafts that have finials and scrolled decorations. The lantern has a scrolled base and tracery heads on the sides and canted angles, topped with cresting and a glazed pyramidal cap. There is a small post with a valve on the side. Originally, this lamp post was connected to another lamp post on the south side by enriched iron railings.
