Description

This lamp post, located to the south of the west front of the Cathedral in Lichfield, dates from around 1880. It is made of cast and wrought iron and features a moulded plinth leading to a fluted post with a twisted top section. The design includes a cluster of four shafts topped with finials and scrolled embellishments. The lantern has a scrolled base, tracery heads on the sides and canted angles, a cresting, and a glazed pyramidal cap. There is also a small post with a valve on the side. Originally, this lamp post was connected to another lamp post to the north by enriched iron railings.
