Description
The barn and stables, located approximately 10 yards southeast of Elford Park Farmhouse, are a remodelling from the 18th century of a 17th-century building. They are constructed of red brick and timber framing with brick infill, topped with plain tile roofs. The structure has an L-shaped plan, featuring a four-bay barn from the 18th century that runs north-south, and a three-bay building from the 17th century that includes stables, attached to the northwest and aligned east-west facing north.
On the north elevation, the gabled end of the 18th-century barn is to the left, with doors at the ground floor and loft levels. The single-storey 17th-century range is to the right, where the left bay retains timber framing, with two square panels at the eaves on a high plinth and a door in the right-hand bay.
Inside, the barn features a pegged king-post and two pairs of purlins, while the 17th-century range has a queen strut roof with one pair of purlins and a ridge piece. The west bay of the range retains two loose boxes.
