Description
Two shops, built in the middle of the 18th century and around 1800. The buildings are constructed of brick with stucco dressings, and have tile roofs. They are in a Georgian style, over three storeys, originally with a four-window front, with a later three-storey, single-window range added to the left. The front of both ranges is stuccoed at ground level. A top platt band and parapet run along the top of the building. The ground floor on the right-hand side has a round-headed entrance with a blind fanlight featuring thick glazing bars above a six-fielded panel door. To the left is a late 20th-century shop front with three windows beneath a cornice with an open pediment, extending over the later range. First and second floor windows have sills and rusticated wedge lintels with keys. The first floor windows are 12-pane sashes, while the second floor windows are 6-pane sashes. End stacks are present. The later range has a brick modillioned cornice and a hipped roof. Windows in this range have sills and rusticated wedge lintels; the first-floor window is a plate glass horned sash, and the second floor window is 4/8-pane. The return frontage is similar, with a three-window range; a central entrance serves the shop front, the first-floor windows have 16-pane sashes, and the second-floor windows include two 4/8-pane sashes and one 9-pane sash.
