Description
11 and 13 Market Street are two shops that likely date back to the late 16th century, with some later alterations. The buildings are constructed in a timber-frame style, featuring stucco and some brick at the rear, and have a tiled roof. They are two storeys high with an attic and present a six-window range, including three jettied gables. The ground floor has two recessed shop fronts from the late 20th century. The first floor features windows with timber architraves and horned sashes; the left side has 12-pane windows, while the right side has plate glass. The attic contains two-light wooden-mullioned windows with leaded glazing. The exposed timber framing on the gables includes cusped curved braces within square panels. At the rear, there are 20th-century gabled brick wings. Inside, the first floor showcases moulded beams and timber framing with tension braces, but no infill panels.
