Description

The farmhouse, located on the east side of Horseylane in Longdon, dates to the 16th century. It is timber framed with brick infill, externally plastered, and has an imitation framing applied to the front. The roof is covered with plain tiles, and there are two roughcast ridge stacks. The building follows a baffle-entry plan, with two storeys and three rectangular panels visible beneath the eaves. The windows are irregularly placed: two casements are on the ground floor and one on the first floor to the right. A 19th-century four-panel door is located on the right-hand side, directly in front of a chimney stack, and a blocked doorway is positioned to the left, also in front of a chimney. The left-hand gable end displays closely spaced studs with a middle rail. The roof structure includes a double collared truss with a king post positioned above the upper collar, strengthened by herringbone pattern struts. Inside, the wall framing is exposed, and there are ovolo-moulded ceiling beams. The large open kitchen fireplace features an ovolo-moulded bressumer and a timber-framed smoke hood.
