Description

This is a house, likely dating from the 15th century, with significant alterations made in the 17th century. It is constructed of stuccoed brick with a tile roof and brick stacks. The building is arranged in an L-shape, featuring a gabled north elevation and an adjacent similar elevation facing east. The north elevation has two horizontal bands and simple bargeboards topped with a finial. The entrance, on the left side, is sheltered by a bracketed canopy and has a four-panel door with glazed lights. A pegged cross-casement window with an iron opening light and leaded glazing is on the ground floor, alongside two similar windows on the first floor. The attic has a two-light casement. A brick stack is located to the right of the gable. The adjacent east elevation has a projecting ground floor with what appear to be wall posts, and ornate bargeboards with a finial. The ground floor windows have sills, while the first floor has twelve-pane sashes; the angle of the building has a similar sash window. The attic contains a two-light casement with iron opening lights and leaded glazing, accompanied by a similar window on the first floor. The rear of the house, facing into Vicars' Close, has a variety of casements. The north range of the interior contains roof trusses with heavily cambered tie beams.
