Description
88 Main Street is a 17th-century house that has undergone some alterations. It features a timber frame construction with a plain tile roof and has both a brick off-ridge stack and an external end stack. The house consists of three framed bays arranged east-west and facing north, with the east bay being a later addition. It is two storeys high and has three square panels at the eaves with straight braces. The windows are irregularly placed, with three large casements on the ground floor and two on the first floor, located in the centre and to the right, while there is a blocked 17th-century window to the left of centre that contains one of a pair of small 19th-century casements. The door is positioned to the right of centre. Inside, there is a timber-framed axial partition in the west bay. The roof structure includes a queen strut truss with one pair of purlins and a ridge piece, which is exposed on the east gable.
