Description
39 Carter Street is the caretaker's house of the Friends Meeting House, which is located at the rear and was formerly known as "The Quaker House." The building dates from the early 19th century, but its core structure is from the early 17th century. It is constructed of red brick and has two storeys. The facade features two modern or restored casement windows and a simple wooden doorcase with a gabled cornice hood supported by brackets. The entrance includes a six-panel door and steps leading up, with a wooden handrail on each side. The building has dentilled brick eaves and a tiled roof. Although there are modern additions at the rear, the interior has been well restored.
