Description

Bromley House is a house dating from around 1840. It is located on the southwest side of Uttoxeter Road in Abbots Bromley. The house is built of pebbledash with a plain tile roof, and has brick integral end stacks with octagonal shafts, as well as a rendered ridge stack, also with an octagonal shaft. The main house is three stories tall and has a left-hand gable. The main section has a 1:1 bay arrangement, with glazing bar sashes featuring shaped heads and raised keys. A canted bay window with a moulded cornice and flat roof is situated on the right-hand side of the ground floor. A six-panel, two-leaf door is located to the left of centre, set within a moulded stone doorcase with a bracketed cornice hood, and has a rectangular overlight. The service wing to the right consists of two stories. It has a four-centred carriage arch containing a panelled, two-leaf door; two small glazing bar sashes are located on the first floor. Bromley House is a prominent building within the street scene.
