Description

The Thatches is a cottage dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century, with 20th-century additions and alterations. It features a timber frame, although some of the original timber has been replaced by brickwork that is painted and rendered to match the timber frame. The cottage has a reed thatched roof and an end stack. It is a single storey with an attic and retains three bays of the original house, with the left end rebuilt in brick and the right end featuring a two-bay addition that is slightly taller. Each bay has two-light casement windows, and there is a thatched hipped, three-sided single-storey bay window at the center of the original house. A thatched gabled porch with a boarded door is located at the right end.
