Description

The lychgate to the Church of St Werburgh is a late 19th-century structure, possibly part of the work completed in 1862 by the architects Hine & Evans. It features a timber frame set on a stone plinth, topped with a shingle roof. The side walls are framed and diagonally braced, supporting the roof, which has crosses at the apexes and central triangular louvres with quatrefoil openings. The original oak has mostly been replaced with cedar.
