Description

The viaduct over the Trent and Mersey Canal, built in the mid-19th century, is constructed from coursed, rough-textured stone, featuring a brick arch soffit. It has a single span that includes a towpath and is characterized by a dramatically skewed semicircular headed arch. The arch is adorned with rusticated stone voussoirs and has a roll-moulded stone cornice above its crown. On the north side of the towpath, there are three 20th-century concrete buttresses.
