Description

The former Penllwyn Tramroad Viaduct at Nine Mile Point is a notable structure featuring a high single span river arch made of stone, reinforced with brick and buttressed on each side. The arch includes an impost band that is supported by corbels. Above the later brick reinforcement, the stone voussoirs of the earlier arch are visible, and a string course runs above, defining the parapet, which is railed and now serves as a footpath. The viaduct is supported by four deep stone abutments.
