Description

The Mount is an early 19th century red brick house located on Wellington Haygate Road. It has a low-pitched hipped slate roof and a moulded eaves cornice. The house is three storeys high and originally consisted of three bays, with the central bay projecting forward and topped with a pediment. The windows are sashes with glazing, and the first floor has crenellated lintels while the second floor features flat brick arches. The central ground floor doorway is set within a round-arched moulded architrave with panelled reveals and a traceried fanlight. Around the mid-19th century, columns were added flanking the doorway, supporting an entablature that extends over the flanking bays to the left and right. A large late 19th century wing was added to the right side of the house and a smaller, more modern wing to the left.
