Description
The Valley Hotel is an 18th century red brick house located on Buildwas Road in Coalbrookdale. It features a plain tile hipped roof with modillion eaves and stands three storeys tall with four bays. The windows have been replaced with modern casements but remain in their original openings, which are topped with gauged brick flat arches that include keystones. On the left side of the ground floor, there is a modern bay window, while to the right of the center, there is a porch supported by Tuscan columns and topped with a pediment. A later 19th century two-bay wing projects from the left side, also featuring modillion eaves. Inside, the hall and staircase are decorated with dados panelled in Coalport China tiles that are moulded in high relief. The building is listed as Grade II* primarily for its notable interior tiling.
